Excursions into the beautiful countryside around Alpenhotel Ammerwald are also worthwhile in winter: From easy walks to snowshoe hikes, the Reutte region offers numerous routes. Please ask our reception for tips. 

Austrian singer Wolfgang Ambros already knew that: "Skiing is the best thing on earth." In the ski areas of the Reutte Nature Park region around the Alpenhotel Ammerwald, beginners and advanced skiers and, of course, snowboarders will have a great time. The ski areas of Reutte/Tirol and Oberammergau are only 25 kilometres away (approx. 30 minutes by car). The Tiroler Zugspitz Arena with the ski areas of Bichlbach-Berwang can be reached in about 30 minutes (25 kilometres) and Ehrwald/Lermoos in about 40 minutes (32 kilometres).

Anyone who has ever been on a ski tour knows that it is a very special adventure: A strenuous ascent is followed by the reward of unspoilt nature and the possibility of putting down the first tracks in the snow. It is pure freedom.

In good snow conditions, tobogganing is the perfect pastime. There are several toboggan runs within a short distance of Alpenhotel Ammerwald. You can rent a toboggan from our reception.

In the region of Reutte there are several ice rinks just waiting to be skated on when the weather is good. Get away from it all and go for a spin on the ice. 

Enjoy the meditative atmosphere of the countryside around the River Lech, which runs along many cross-country ski trails. Just a five-minute drive from Alpenhotel Ammerwald, you can cross-country ski on Lake Plansee in the direction of Musteralpe. Other perfectly groomed ski trails can be found in the Reutte valley basin, in Graswang, Ettal and Oberammergau (each about a 20 minute drive from the hotel). More tips and information are available at reception.
